Frequently Asked Questions

The quote I am told most often... "I don't want a show dog, I just want a pet" and here I will address why you should buy from a show breeder.

As with most everything we build, we want to start with a firm foundation of quality, strength and durability. This applies to breeding animals as well. This foundation in dogs consists of conformation, bone structure and overall appearance and ability to function properly. Which is very important especially in a dwarf breed such as the dachshund. The purpose of showing our dogs is to reward the excellence of conformation, also to prove the dog is worthy of breeding and passing on his or her traits.

Are Dachshunds Easy To Train?

In most cases, yes they are easy to train. Dachshunds are usually very food motivated and respond well with healthy treats. However they do have a stubborn streak when they are doing something they think is more important. They respond best to positive training and gentle corrections. It's important not to expect too much from a puppy as their attention span is short. I have found short training sessions work best and to always end it on a positive note!
